Welcome Back!
It’s been so nice to have our swimming & diving lessons back on. Our instructors really missed everyone and are glad to be back doing what they enjoy and are passionate about. We hope everyone is getting used to the new way we are operating and children are gaining in confidence now they are back in the water. Instructors will be assessing now and you can view your child’s progress via Home Portal. See below if you haven’t already registered. Can we remind parents/guardians that where possible only one person should accompany a child on to poolside. We are limited on space for spectators. Pushchairs are not permitted on poolside.
As we move in to Autumn & Winter outdoor footwear will become more of an issue on the poolside. To help keep this area as clean as possible we are asking parents to remove shoes or bring flip flops/sliders to change in to once inside the building.
Entry Gates
Our new entry gate system was installed during lockdown and the gates will now be closed all the time. Each person booked in to swimming or diving lessons requires an access item, a wristband, fob or card. If you have not been issued one of these items please see reception before the lesson or contact our aquatic’s team for help aquatic.officer@corby.gov.uk. Once you have your access item you don’t need to report to reception just let yourself in through the turnstile 10 minutes prior to your lesson. Don’t forget to arrive “beach ready” with your swim wear on under some clothing as the changing rooms are only accessible after lessons. Please change in your drop off area on poolside to avoid queues in the health suite. Reception cannot always open the gate immediately so please try to remember your band every week. Additional access items can be purchased from reception including key fobs and cards.
Staffing
There have been a few staff changes during the past few months. Tamira had her baby at the end of June and is now enjoying maternity leave with her new baby girl.
We welcome Tom to the team who will be teaching on a Wednesday & Sunday. Becky has gone to University but will still be teaching with us on a Thursday & Saturday.
Kelsey is changing her days, she will be teaching on a Monday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Derek, Daisy & Leona are new casual employees, often here at the weekends covering and assisting where needed. Leona will be taking our Stage 9 class, working with Corby Amateur Swimming Club to progress these children into competitive swimming with the club. And lastly Warren our casual diving coach has also gone to University, we hope he’ll be back with us and the diving club during his holidays.
Last week we said goodbye to Charlie as he moves on to a new chapter in his life. He has been with us for almost 20 years teaching swimming & diving lessons as well as coaching for Corby Steel Diving Club. We will all miss him but wish him well for the future.
Face Coverings & Hand Sanitiser
To help protect us all we are recommending that you wear a face covering when entering or using the following areas, reception, changing rooms, corridors and poolside. Please also remember to use our hand sanitiser stations.
Changing Cubicles
Please remember to use the green and red cards when you use the cubicles to help staff keep this area clean and remember if you would like it cleaned prior to use please ask a member of our team and we will be pleased to clean it for you.
Certificates and Hats
Certificates, badges and next stage hats will be charged at £4.50.
This will include a certificate, badge and hat (swimming lessons only). Please purchase at reception prior to your lesson.
New, Lost or Replacement hats (without a certificate and badge) will be charged at £2.50.
Christmas 2020
All swimming & diving lessons will finish on Wednesday 23rd December and resume on Saturday 2nd January 2021.
Home Portal
View your child’s assessment criteria, progression and lesson information via the portal. When your child is ready to move up you can view the current availability and choose your preferred option.
